We’ve noticed Alternative Porn has been given a good amount of consideration this year at Xbiz Awards and given the nature of the nomination process this leads us to believe that this shit is actually popular! Altporn Star dot com has only been on the internet for 2 years, and was graduated to its own social network from the flagship Altporn Network site lazerbunny, which was a free online magazine and membership site since 2006. Still, that time frame lames in comparison to other companies that have been on the internet since the year 2000. Some of these companies have been online for years and are just recently receiving award nominations for “new” program or “emerging” projects. On one level, I want to call bullshit on that and on another level I would like to applaud the people that have brought the strongest projects to light regardless of their reasoning aside from the fact that they just, like it. People vote on for the companies and projects that they think are noteworthy, and not just their own project or their friends that they feel that they should have to vote for, or at least that’s what I would like to think.

After 5 years in this “Adult Industry” some of me wants to run screaming with my hands on my head to the hills and only communicate with smoke signals to ex vietnam vets that inhabit some population 12 ramshackle tent city on the side of a mountain in Northern California, but alas.. I am too stubborn and honestly that’s probably the shittiest plan I’ve ever come up with. ( Note to self: Don’t do that )

Well good folks of RE:merica and the European countries that still allow dirty nasty porno on their internet… I guess we’re here to stay. Or it would at least seem that way wouldn’t it. Maybe that’s why we came along a little bit later than some of the others that boast they did everything first. Just maybe, the reason is.. we learned from a lot of things that we thought were pretty pointless from their start, revised some things, made something real and unique to itself, not in competition with the others that were all kind of the same and in competition with each other. Those failed and fell off the face of the planet.. sites died and were sold to other people that then sold it to someone else, or a major corporation came along and swallowed them up only to discontinue their project later. Of course there are also the other hardheaded people in the world that will alwyas leave their site up regardless of the fact that it only makes them 45 dollars a month and mostly people just talk shit on their forum, and they’ve since moved to the forest and only communicate through smoke signals.. yada yada refer to After 5 years headline above.

Here at APS it’s a sad day when a site goes down and all of our time and energy put towards that site or the interview just the thought put into it, just seems to roll down the drain… I don’t like it that China has banned all of the whole entire red light district of the internet, but I really really don’t like it when people who are creative and expressing their right as an artist to communicate erotica and/or pornography are forced into killing their project because other companies are more interested in profit, and anti-helping them is better for the bottom line. That’s why we promote just about anything that’s interesting here.
